SERVICES ACADEMY

Services Academy is a Military-focused programme delivered in association with the New Zealand Defence Force that integrates military traits into the academic curriculum.  It prepares students for employment opportunities within but not limited to the Army, Navy, and Airforce, through the guidance and mentoring of the Services Academy Director.

The programme philosophy is driven by values such as; commitment, comradeship, honesty, being humble, and demonstrating respect for others.  The philosophy is the driver to enhance personal qualities that promote the desire to learn, and to succeed in life. The military component provides students with the experience to develop the courage to make positive decisions, setting themselves up for success.

A significant amount of time is dedicated to physical training, leadership and teamwork.  Students are expected to attend and participate in a variety of activities in and outside the classroom including:

  • Induction - Waiouru Army Base

  • Basic Leadership - Ohakea Air Base

  • Bushcraft- Whirinaki Forest Park

  • Adventure Challenge- Lake Taupo

  • Advanced Leadership - Trentham
